About Charleston Charter School for Math and Science: Charleston Charter School for Math and Science (CCSMS)
provides a STEM focused education in a culturally diverse and experiential learning environment. CCSMS is a public
charter school educating 560 scholars in grades 6 to 12. We believe every child can reach their potential with the support
of compassionate adults, so we’ve created a school to nurture and engage different types of learners and thinkers. Our

Overview of Position: Charleston Charter School for Math and Science is currently accepting applications for a SPED
Multi-Categorical position for the 2022-23 school year. We are looking for a candidate passionate about supporting
scholar growth and experience in a diverse middle and high school setting.
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
▪ Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of scholars;
▪ Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of
scholars;
▪ Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and - in harmony with the goals -
establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate those objectives to
scholars;
▪ Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives;
▪ Assesses the accomplishments of scholars on a regular basis and provides the progress reports to the Director of
the Exceptional Children Department as required;
▪ Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and assessment requirements;
▪ Being a part of the CCSMS teaching staff and developing opportunities for collaboration across departments.
▪ Enthusiastically taking on other duties as assigned and proactively pitching in wherever needed to make each day
run smoothly and safely.
Education, Experience, and Skills desired:
▪ Bachelor’s Degree in subject area or related field.
▪ SC State Board of Education Certification in related field.
▪ Experience with middle and/or high school students.
▪ Experience developing and motivating teenagers with the belief that all scholars can learn and grow.
▪ Creative problem solver with a healthy sense of humor and a resilient spirit.
Requirements:
▪ Keep information confidential as required by law.
▪ Afterschool meetings with some periodic evenings and weekends, as needed.
▪ Background check as required by the State of South Carolina.
Salary: The Charleston Charter School for Math and Science pay scale is aligned with the local CCSD pay scale.
