About Charleston Charter School for Math and Science: Charleston Charter School for Math and Science (CCSMS)
provides a STEM focused education in a culturally diverse and experiential learning environment. CCSMS is a public
charter school educating 600 scholars in grades 6 to 12. We believe every child can reach their potential with the support
of compassionate adults, so we’ve created a school to nurture and engage different types of learners and thinkers. Our
community offers small class sizes and pioneering instructional approaches to shape innovators and forward-thinking

Overview of Position: Charleston Charter School for Math and Science is currently accepting applications for a daily
substitute teacher. This temporary position is for the 2023 – 2024 school year. We are looking for a candidate passionate
about supporting scholar growth and experience in a diverse middle and high school setting.
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
▪ Daily classroom coverage based on the direction of the Lead Principal;
▪ Facilitate substitute plans to middle and high school scholars;
▪ Assist Lead Principal by supporting certified teachers in classroom activities as directed;
▪ Communicate relevant information regarding scholar’s behavior with certified classroom teacher;
▪ Enthusiastically taking on other duties as assigned and proactively pitching in wherever needed to make each day
run smoothly and safely.
Education, Experience, and Skills desired:
▪ Minimum High School Diploma with some college level classes preferred.
▪ Experience with middle and/or high school students preferred but not required.
▪ Experience developing and motivating teenagers with the belief that all scholars can learn and grow.
▪ Creative problem solver with a healthy sense of humor and a resilient spirit.
Requirements:
▪ Keep information confidential as required by law.
▪ Afterschool meetings with some periodic evenings and weekends, as needed.
▪ Background check as required by the State of South Carolina.
Salary: Temporary position wage range is $19 - $22 per hour based on experience.
