Position Type: Summer School Program/Summer Program High School Teacher Date Posted: 4/16/2024 Location: Eastern High School Closing Date: 04/26/2024   Summer Program Wage: $32.01 per hour during the program 20 Days/ 4.5 Hours 8:45 am -1:15 pm Student Times: 2 Sessions each day 9-11 & 11-1 June 10-13 (4 days) June 17-20 (4 days) June 24-27 (4 days) July 8-11 (4 days) July 15-18 (4 days) 2 Teacher prep days - 3 hours each 1 before and 1 after SUMMARY: The summer academic teachers are the primary support to ensure the academic and social development of students. Teachers will create and lead lessons and activities and support the summer learning objectives. The teacher's day will be adapted to fit the needs of the students to promote academic growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Michigan Elementary Teacher Certification required LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedure, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, students, parents and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and present lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, school staff and parents; skills in oral and written communication.
