JOB GOAL

Responsible for the effective execution of the choice lottery process, reassignment requests, resolution of guardianship issues, and carrying out of the future enrollment process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Supervises assigned staff responsible for all functions related to the student placement and planning processes.
  2. Serves as project manager on student placement initiatives.
  3. Manages, supports, and provides short and long-term strategic direction to the student placement team.
  4. Works directly with the process of J-1 and F-1 student status to increase student enrollment in the studying abroad and exchange program.
  5. Works in close collaboration with department director to develop and oversee the long-term strategic vision and annual implementation plans.
  6. Develops inventory management tracking of department equipment that is sent from the district.
  7. Promotes communication to internal and external customers to improve departmental transparency.
  8. Creates and introduces streamlined customer service procedures to improve specialist production by incorporating technology.
  9. Assists in the development and implementation of best practices for new online enrollment systems.
  10. Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints regarding the choice application/lottery process and student assignment.
  11. Assists with the development and implementation of the district's student assignment plan and policies.
  12. Participates in the coordination of department work program activities with other district departments, schools, and outside agencies involved in student placement-related activities and ensures timely and accurate execution of the student assignment enrollment and lottery.
  13. Evaluates existing administrative policies, procedures, and regulations related to the student placement work program, and recommends measures for improvements.
  14. Communicates with school district staff and members of the community on matters of school district positions, policies, and regulations pertaining to student placement.
  15. Serves as the Director in the absence of the Director.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS



Knowledge, Skills & abilities
  • Ability to exercise superior customer service with internal and external clients
  • Ability to handle confidential information, and demonstrate discretion and good judgment
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, locals, and school system policies and regulations regarding student placement
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of strategic planning, project management, change management, process improvement and quality management methodology
  • Able to perform duties independently with general supervision
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse work environment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile, compare, and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files and records in any/all formats (digital/electronic and physical)
  • Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinates
  • Ability to develop long-term goals and objectives
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes



Education, Training & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or Business Administration or related field
  • 5-7 years of work experience in project management, change management, process improvement, quality management or related experience
  • 1-2 years of student assignment experience

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
