What You Will Do:

 

Automotive Technicians diagnose the causes of a wide variety of problems with vehicles and perform necessary repairs. Automotive Technicians have a deep knowledge of the various systems within a car or truck and can reference manuals and technical drawings in order to perform repairs. Automotive Technicians are responsible for safely and efficiently operating tools, keeping tools in proper working order, and efficiently producing repairs that meet quality standards.

 

  • Read, interpret, and understand manuals and technical drawings.
  • Diagnose the cause of problems in various systems in a vehicle.
  • Repair vehicles using tools. Use tools safely and perform tool care and maintenance.

 

THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA MUST BE MET BY THE END OF THE APPRENTICESHIP TO COMPLETE:

 

  • Apprentices must successfully pass/complete a minimum of 144 hours of employer-selected training courses that align with their competencies (either through relevant college coursework or other training - on-the-job-training does not apply to this requirement)
  • Apprentices must complete 2,000 hours of work at their company
  • Apprentices must obtain proficiency in 100% of their Technical competencies and 75% of their Career-Ready competencies in order to complete the apprenticeship

  • Age: 17+
