Academy of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences - Veterinary Assisting Strand
The Veterinary Assisting strand is a four-year program designed to prepare high school students for a career in Veterinary Science. A veterinary assistant is trained in many skills, including obtaining and recording patient histories, collecting specimens and performing laboratory procedures, restraining pets, sterilizing instruments, performing front-office duties, maintaining sanitary conditions in kennels and exam rooms, and providing basic grooming services such as nail clipping. The Veterinary Assisting pathway offers both an academic and hands-on learning experience; students work with animals in the classroom. Upon completion of the program, students have the opportunity to earn an industry certification as a Certified Veterinary Assistant at the end of their high school career.

FLDOE Professional Educator Certificate - AGRICUTUR Grades 6-12
District Vocational Certificate Options: Veterinary Assistant (VET ASSIST)
Qualifications for the Vocational District Certificate are as follows:
• Applicants must have six (6) years of full-time successful occupational experience in the relating field or a 4-year degree in the related field with 2 years of occupational experience.
• Applicants also must provide letters from past employers of work experience for Verification of Experience.
